About

Like all who write about hiking and its many intricacies, I am an avid hiker. My hiking life started properly at the age of 20, when I lived for a year in the San Francisco Bay Area – within a few hours’ drive of some of the most stunning national parks the US (and I dare say the world!) has got to offer. Since then, I’ve been traveling around the world, whenever possible, in search of more patches of woods to walk in. I got to say this: when your hiking life began in the Sierra Nevadas, you are forever spoiled – very little else compares.

I also love to write and what better than to merge my two loves? I started this blog not to serve as a blow-by-blow account of the trails I’ve been on (there are many excellent resources for that, the links to some of which you would find littered around this blog) but simply to share my experiences, tips and random epiphanies on the trail plus highlights of the research I tirelessly perform on all things hiking, in my free time. I hope that these nuggets of information would help my fellow hikers in some practical way or at least that my writing would warm the hearts of those who know what it is like to come alive in the woods.
